As part of National Science Week, Kerry Science Festival, funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and led by Munster Technological University, will host a programme of free public engagement events, workshops, science shows, talks, laboratory demonstrations, science walks and other science-related events to demonstrate how science can inspire and enable people to act positively to mitigate climate change
This year Science Week will focus on Creating Our Future, a national conversation between the public, the research community and policy makers – exploring ideas for what scientists in Ireland should explore to create a better future. Locally the festival will feature over 25 events developed in collaboration with industry, businesses, public bodies, schools, teachers, researchers, and students throughout the County. The festival also aims to ensure that the sustainability and the climate crisis and how science must be the solution remain at the forefront of participants minds.
Highlights at this year’s Kerry Science Festival 2021 include; A Pint of Science aimed at adults seeking to discuss STEM, AgriTech – A Real Career Opportunity, Power Me Up (Renewably)! The REEdI Sustainable Model Airplane Challenge, The Evolution of Automobiles, Growing STEMs: From Seeds to Trees, Industrial Rovbotics and a range of other events across the county.
As usual the flagship event as part of the Festival is the Family Showcase.
Saturday November 13th, a family showcase event will take place at MTU’s North Campus. This daylong event offers a vast array of fun, educational and interactive events for all age’s including VR experiences, scientific testing, robotics, Robot Relay Races, The Marshmallow Challengs, and may even feature a Nutty Scientist or two! A full day of family fun is guaranteed!

Kerry Science Festival events are free, but all require registration, as places on interactive workshops are limited.
