In anticipation of CAO applications opening in November, IT Tralee will host its annual Parents Information Evening and Open Day to assist students and their families as they consider college options for September 2020.
On Thursday 24th October at 7pm IT Tralee will be joined by Psychotherapist, Media Contributor and Bestselling author, Stella O’Malley who will host a session on the best way to support children through the Leaving Certificate and prepare for the transition to third level education. Also on the evening, IT Tralee Admissions experts will be available to give practical advice on making a CAO application and accessing student support services.
Commenting on the upcoming event Bríd McElligott, Vice President Research, Development and External Engagement at the Institute said, “This annual information evening has become a staple event at IT Tralee in response to the growing number of queries from parents and family members regarding the move from second to third level, and the opportunities and challenges this presents for the students concerned. We are delighted to have Stella O’Malley join us on the evening given her vast experience in this area.”
The following day, on Friday 25th of October, the Institute will welcome potential students and their families to its annual Open Day. This ever-popular event will be held from 9.30am to 1.30pm at IT Tralee’s North Campus and will attract over 1,000 potential students from across the county and beyond. Open Day is structured to help potential students to get the most from their visit to IT Tralee with a full schedule of talks, tours and events.
“Open Day is one of the most important days in the Institute’s calendar of events. It provides potential students with the opportunity to visit the Institute, as well as giving students and their families a chance to meet with lecturers, current students and support staff. Current IT Tralee students will lead this year’s campus tours, which will include a guided walkthrough the newly opened Kerry Sports Academy.”
In addition to having an opportunity to speak with academic staff and students from all programme areas, representatives from Student Services and Admissions will also be on hand to provide information to students regarding the CAO application process, the costs of going to college, accommodation and adapting to student life. Tailored workshops will also be delivered for mature students and students with learning difference.
Both events are free of charge and open to the public. Booking is requested for the Parents Information Evening. Please call 066 7191704 or email mary.reid@staff.ittralee.ie
