The Certificate in Building Information Modelling (BIM) with Revit at IT Tralee has been nominated for an Irish Construction Excellence Award in the category “Third Level Course – Postgraduate or CPD.”
The Certificate in BIM with Revit is offered as a 4 month (1 semester), 10 ECTS Credit, part-time online programme. Using Revit and other software tools on their own computers, students undertake modelling and collaborative exercises to demonstrate their capacity to engage with typical workflows on a BIM project. Delivery involves a core evening lecture which is broadcast through IT Tralee’s online Blackboard web portal. This lecture is recorded for review or for learners unable to participate live. It is supplemented with shared content, reading material and various links to external sources.
Founded in 1993 the Irish Construction Excellence Awards (ICE Awards) are the original and premier recognition of performance excellence for the contracting sector in Ireland. Entry to the Awards is open to: Building Contractors, Civil Engineering Contractors, Specialist M&E Contractors, Specialist Contractors, Construction Product Suppliers and Third Level Colleges offering certain construction related courses.
Commenting on the nomination, course co-ordinator Tim Segal said “The course is designed to demonstrate BIM practice to practitioners who are struggling with the early stages of BIM adoption. Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal experience from their particular field as a starting point and are given access to software for practical engagement. The nomination of this programme for an award like this is proof of the innovative approach of IT Tralee to upskilling those already in the workplace.”
Brid McElligott, Vice President for Research, Development & External Engagement and Head of Life Long Learning at IT Tralee said “Our Lifelong Learning programme offering has grown significantly over the last number of years, due in part to the innovative approach IT Tralee staff and their industry colleagues take when evaluating the skills needs for the region. Programmes like the Certificate in Building Information Modelling with Revit utilise online technology to ensure that no matter the hours you work, you will always have the opportunity to upskill and progress in your chosen field. Congratulations to the School of STEM and Tim Segal for their leadership in this area.”
The Irish Construction Excellence Awards take place on Saturday 28th of March in the Convention Centre Dublin.
