Mature Student Peer Mentoring (MSPM) is a support programme which is available to help new mature students, entering full-time under-graduate courses with their transition to third level. It is a programme aimed at aiding the process by which new mature students settle in by linking them to other mature students and a mentor. It also provides a great forum for learning more about the overall mature student experience from those already studying within MTU Kerry Campus.
The focus is on creating a social network that will help you, we hope, in the transition process and thereby ease the path to achieving your final award.
MSPM is a voluntary programme and the aim of the initiative is two-fold. Firstly, as an incoming mature student, you will have an experienced mature student to contact if you encounter any difficulties during your first year. Secondly you get to meet new people, each of whom is in a similar situation, facing into their first year as a new mature student.
As a new incoming mature student, whether you are entering the 1st or other year of a course, you may avail of this support. You will have access to mature students who are currently studying in MTU Kerry Campus. These mentors will offer you friendly advice based on their experiences or can simply make time for a chat, during your first year at the University.
Mature Student Peer Mentors may be contacted via their student email addresses. You will have the chance to meet the mentors at Mature Student Orientation.
