Garda Vetting For Workplace
The University provides a number of programmes where students are required to do a placement as a mandatory part of the programme. To ensure the protection of the public and to justify public trust and confidence, the University is committed to ensuring that only suitable candidates are allowed to undertake work placements which involve contact with children or vulnerable adults. To ensure that only suitable students are sent on work placement, the University requires students registering on these programmes to complete a National Vetting Bureau application form (NVB 2). MTU Kerry Campus is registered with the National Vetting Bureau for the provision of Garda Vetting services.
Satisfactory Garda Vetting is a mandatory part of registration for these programmes. Failure to obtain satisfactory Garda Vetting will result in deregistration. Any offence and/or convictions arising after the student has been registered must be disclosed to the University immediately. The University reserves right to review the registration status of a student in light of additional information received subsequent to registration. Additional courses may be included each year at the discretion of the University and the nature of the work placement.
Details on the Garda Vetting process and the relevant forms are circulated to students prior to first year enrolment and all students must sign a Statutory Declaration Form stating that their registration on the programme is provisional pending clearance of the Garda Vetting process.

Overseas Police Clearance Certificate
If you have resided outside the Republic of Ireland for a period of six consecutive months or longer when aged 16 and over, an Overseas Police Clearance must be applied for. It is mandatory for you to furnish the Admissions Officer at MTU Kerry Campus with a Police Clearance Certificate in respect of every country where you have resided, stating that you have no convictions recorded against you while residing there, or listing any convictions recorded against you.
It is strongly recommended that if Overseas Police Clearance is applicable to you, that you begin the process of applying for your Overseas Police Clearance as soon as possible as your Garda Vetting for MTU Kerry Campus will not be considered completed until such a time as we have received an Overseas Police Clearance Certificate, and also as application processing times will vary from country to country.
Failure to provide the required information will prohibit you from undertaking your work placement, and ultimately may result in the University deregistering you from the programme.
